Open Letter to J.J. Keene via Geoff Stray (Diagnosis2012)

Dear J.J.,

A couple of weeks ago, I read your essay entitled ‘Cosmic Locusts’, published on the Diagnosis2012 website. The enthusiasm with which you outline your reactions to the constant stream of coincidences being thrown at you is a compelling read.

You are probably aware that similar experiences are being shared across the globe. As you know from your own experience, the unfolding awareness of a new reality is difficult to share, for fear of adverse reaction! This is often the case with family and close friends, who are locked into restricted 3rd density awareness. Consequently, your article will have given comfort to many people.

From the moment that we are born into the Western World, the primary focus of our unwitting parents is to commence the process of instilling a belief system that will, in their opinion, prepare the new arrival with the skills and knowledge to participate and contribute to society, just as their parents probably did for them. The likelihood is that parents will focus on established societal norms in all aspects of the child’s education. On the face of it, this is not an unreasonable objective, as it is perceived as natural for any parent to want the ‘best’ in life for their offspring. In the event that the son or daughter does achieve some form of perceived success or notoriety, the parents then have the opportunity to bask in the reflected glory that this brings amongst their own social circle.

Attitudes which simply reflect the fact that success, particularly in the US, is measured in terms of being able to demonstrate the ability to accumulate and sustain significant material wealth. Such is the pressure to portray the visible trappings of success; it has almost become a reflex action to begin the acquisition of the material trappings (house, car, etc) just as soon as the credit rating permits! Having entered implicitly into the game by taking advantage of the credit facilities and working on the basis that future earnings will cover the debt, it really is a case of ‘Gotcha’! The explicit objective of the consumer culture is to subjugate each member of society by encouraging a ‘buy now, pay later’ attitude. The assumption of the financial institutions being that you will then devote your life to feeding the system, seeking ever-greater material possessions.

Upon breaking out of adolescence, the vast majority of people in western society are already resigned, consciously or otherwise, to the fact that they will participate in perpetuating the illusion of the material world. Of course it is not perceived with any negativity; indeed, it is part of the socio-programming that has taken place since birth. This coupled with the societal pressures that will ensure that even the most apparently rebellious individual will eventually succumb to a lifestyle geared to at least maintaining but more likely improving upon their perceived status in the material world. Indeed, what else is one to do? Those that do ask the question or simply elect not to participate in the material illusion are considered to be just a ‘little strange’. After all, surely it is natural to want to strive to achieve ‘success’ in our lives. This may indeed be very true but this statement would, quite understandably, be taken by the majority of people to refer to ‘success’ measured by the display of material achievement.

Some may argue that material wealth can assist in making the passage through life a more enjoyable experience but there are also many documented cases where material assets or rather the misuse or abuse of material assets have proven to be a barrier to personal happiness. Either way, viewed with ‘material vision’ the objective is usually limited to ensuring that the material cushion that we build around ourselves, is sufficient to absorb whatever trauma or challenge that life appears to present us.

The bottom line is that pretty much everything about life in western society is geared towards full immersion and participation in material gratification. Yet as we move towards the end of an epoch, an increasing number of people are beginning to perceive the paradox. As you have become more and more aware of the paradox, it has caused you to question values that you have lived by for over forty years. This change in perception was evidently so significant that you began to “question your sanity”.

Working in the medical profession probably provided you with the opportunity to seek counsel within a ‘safe’ environment. There are many cases of people with similar experiences who have also considered the possibility of being paranoid. A visit to an orthodox psychiatrist or psychoanalyst for ‘help’ has often resulted in a period of drug-induced evaluation, courtesy of the local psychiatric unit. Having been ‘diagnosed’ as, “ ……fit but with very interesting ideas”; suggests that you were either fortunate enough to have subjected yourself to the wisdom of an enlightened therapist or to someone who had known you prior to the onset of the changes in your perception. Either way, the resulting feedback evidently gave you the confidence to continue to keep looking for, or be receptive to, the pieces of the jigsaw which were being offered to you. The publication of ‘Cosmic Locusts’ is testimony to the success of the process, to date. However, I can assure you that there is much, much more to follow; should you choose to participate!

In an effort to rationalize your experiences you postulate that your sub-conscious mind could have ‘set up’ your experiences but you go on to dismiss this observation by suggesting that you, “….would have to have the Einstein of sub-conscious minds…….’ to be able to choreograph the events that you experienced. Yet you are perhaps closer to the mark than you realise! Students of supra-consciousness will recognise immediately the commonality of process that you are presently experiencing. Yet at the same time, each experience is wonderfully unique to each individual. We should avoid underestimating either the capability or the determination of our (higher)selves to lead us through the process of transformation. Einstein himself recognised the importance of establishing rapport with his higher self. Preferring to explain many of his theorems as ‘intuitive research’, he was often heard to acknowledge his thanks to the ‘Library Angels’. Baffling many of his students with his ability to walk into libraries and seek out apparently random but salient reference material by following his ‘intuition’.

In his introduction to The Occult, 1971, Colin Wilson observed: “On one occasion, when I was searching for a piece of information, a book actually fell off the shelf and fell open at the right page.” Sound familiar?

There have been occasions when the ‘perpetrators’ of the co-incidences have assumed an identity. How many students of psychology are aware that Carl Jung acknowledged ‘Philemon’ as the master and guide for much of his groundbreaking work? Whomever or whatever ‘Philemon’ might have been, he/she was not of this physical realm!

Acknowledging the contribution of Philemon amongst respected associates, Jung did an outstanding job of explaining the concept of ‘Synchronicity’. So much so that the term has become an integral part of our every-day vocabulary. The relationship between synchronicity and Einstein’s Unified Field Theory has yet to be embraced by the orthodox scientific community, perhaps because of the potential implications on orthodox religious dogma!

You have already acknowledged the ‘presence’ of a force that is beyond the parameters of the rationale that you have used to frame your universe. It is beyond the realms of contemporary orthodox science but your affinity with Curl-Snout (5th Century CE Mayan Leader of Tikal), would indicate that you have begun the process to regain access to knowledge that has been suppressed and/or lost for almost two thousand years. Your higher self will continue to guide you on this amazing journey, offering you the opportunity to challenge the precepts and concepts accumulated during the course of your incarnation to date.

It is interesting to note that you have recently embraced the Catholic Church; perhaps the greatest perpetrator of spiritually oppressive dogma that the world has ever known. Of course, it would be absolutely wonderful to believe that at some juncture the Vatican would open up its secret library. In all probability, these vaults contain the most comprehensive collection of esoteric literature to be found in any single location (including the ‘Fatima’ prophecy!). Priceless works that have been salvaged from the rampant book burning that has accompanied the spread of Christendom, which has been achieved at the point of a sword and more recently at the end of the barrel of a gun. How many great works were destroyed when the newly christianized Roman Empire shut down The Academy after 916 years of philosophical study; or when the ‘mad monks’ destroyed the library of Alexandria in 415, killing Hypatia (Chief Scientist/Librarian) in the process. The Catholic Church has certainly been consistent in the suppression of ‘heretical’ literature; stifling any attempt at spiritual curiosity by making it abundantly clear that it is, our way ………or purgatory!

Roll forward one thousand years to the invasion of Mesoamerica by Cortez and the bigoted representatives of the Roman Church led by Diego De Landa. The excesses perpetrated by De Landa were so extreme that he was summoned back to Spain to explain himself.

Conversely, the indigenous population was extremely tolerant of other people’s gods. Moctezuma showed his tolerance when he said to Cortez: “Throughout all time we have worshipped our own gods and thought they were good. I do not doubt the goodness of the god whom you worship, but if he is good for Spain, our gods are equally good for Mexico; so do not trouble to speak to us any more about them at present …………..”[1]

Not that such equanimity did him any good as he was killed shortly after this exchange.

The post 1492 hegemony on the American continent is fundamentally attributable to the intolerance of those purporting to be representative of the Christian faith. The Catholic Church leading the attack in the south, while the Protestants, with Catholic support, continued the process of ethnic cleansing in the north. This unholy alliance of atrocity is continued today. Indeed, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Americas, the Roman Catholic establishment, through the words Pope John Paul II, asserted that the sufferings of the Americas were secondary to the “immense wealth of Christian life” that arrived with Christopher Columbus.[2]

That you are able to know of the existence of Curl-Snout and his period of rule in Tikal, is due to the ability to read the glyphs on various Stelae at Tikal, despite the knowledge having been ‘lost’ for a few centuries. The decoding process being compounded by the fact that only three known Codices (Dresden, Madrid & Paris) survived De Landa’s campaign of systematic destruction of historic (Mayan) and contemporary (Aztec) literature. Ironically, the painstaking efforts to decipher the Mayan glyphs by Yuri Knorosov and his protégé, Tatiana Proskoutiakoff, were greatly assisted by a manuscript (‘Relación de las cosas de Yucatán’) written by De Landa himself in 1556! (Cosmic humour, perhaps?) Yet is it not highly probable that the hordes of Bishops and other clergy that descended upon the new territories, removed quantities of Mayan and Aztec literary works for their private collections back to Spain? Works that are either still buried in ecclesiastic libraries in Spain or were passed on to the Vatican for ‘safe keeping’.

As your supra-consciousness guides you through the awakening process, you might choose to reflect upon a motif that appears on the outside wall of the Zion Methodist Church in La Ceiba, Honduras. The legend reads, ‘The Love of Christ Constrains Us’.

In adopting the Catholic faith, you will inevitably study the canonical Bible. Many within the Church believe that a Christian needs no other book than the Bible. To succumb to such constraint is to limit our learning. Jesus is reported to have said, “Seek … and ye shall find.” Unless he was misquoted, he did not say, “Seek, only in The Bible … and ye shall find.”

Why limit learning to that part of biblical text as determined by the council of Nicea in 325 CE?

Hopefully your expanded consciousness will guide you to the apocryphal works, then on to the Gnostic Gospels, The Koran, The Talmud, The Kabbalah, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Bhagavad-Gita, Popul Vuh, The Tao, The Seth Material, The Ra Material; the works of Blavatsky, Gurdjeiff, Ouspensky, Steiner, Jung, Grof, etc, etc, etc. Each of these, and the list is by no means exhaustive, have something to contribute, just as you hope ‘Cosmic Locusts’ may have an impact and perhaps initiate or accelerate the process of metanoia * amongst some of those who read it.

Be aware of potential constraint caused by the stake that you have placed in the ground. It is undoubtedly a valid reference point and one that may be returned to time and time again. If you wish to be tethered to a stake, it is perhaps better to be tethered by elastic than by hemp! (*ed: metanoia; a Greek word: meta=change; noos = mind, so the word usually translated as “repentance” in the New Testament, actually means “mind-change”).

Your Higher Self will have already mapped out the path of learning most likely to raise your consciousness to heights that at present are probably beyond your wildest comprehension. A key factor in the process will be your willingness to ‘let go’ of all that you thought you knew. A five-year-old child is often able to complete tasks, which confound adults, without any instruction. A phenomenon primarily due to the fact that the child is not constrained by previous experience, allowing ‘intuition’ to guide them through the task. The adult is constrained by attempting to apply logic and rationale, based upon previous experience. Embracing such childlike qualities is a pre-requisite for embarking upon this extraordinary journey. The publication of ‘Cosmic Locusts’ is certainly a tribute to the success of the process thus far.

In the coming weeks and months, there is a degree of inevitability that your perceptions of ‘reality’ will continue to evolve. One advantage of having written ‘Cosmic Locusts’ as a novel is that you have not staked any claim to having specific eschatological insight, the allegory or hermeneutics of your work being of far greater value than the exoteric. There is every possibility that when you read through ‘Cosmic Locusts’ in a few years time, it will have an impact that you did not perceive at the time of writing. Do you think J.K. Rowling truly appreciates the depth of hermeneutic value contained within the Harry Potter books?  As you research continues, you will move on or perhaps develop further the themes addressed in ‘Cosmic Locusts’.

If my own experience is anything to go by, as your journey unfolds you will experience contact with many wonderful people. Some of whom will cause you to wonder at the depth of their wisdom, yet the apparent simplicity of the way in which they go about their lives. These ‘players’ go about their business without fanfare but have significant impact upon those who are ready to receive what they have to offer. G.I. Gurdjieff and P.D. Ouspensky pondered, independently and together, over the origins of such people, concluding that there was indeed an ‘inner circle’ amongst the human race. An ‘inner circle’ tasked with perpetuating knowledge that will eventually enable mankind to continue the journey towards unity. To meet such people is an extremely humbling, yet incredibly memorable experience. These people will be instrumental in helping you find ways through the ‘blockages’ that you will inevitably encounter as your journey unfolds. They do not seek your gratitude or any other form of acknowledgement as they are rewarded through having contributed to your progression along the path of light. Such people operate out of absolute love. They are truly ‘in service’.

In 2001, I spent seven months in Central America conducting my own research into Mayan mythology and spirituality. During this time I had the opportunity to meet with numerous archeologists working in various locations throughout Guatemala, Honduras and Belize. I took the opportunity to solicit the thoughts of these archeologists on the cause of the mass ‘disappearance’ of the Mayan population in the middle of the 9th Century. Of course, the usual suspects of drought, over-farming, crop contamination, disease, etc were all mentioned but there is in insufficient evidence with which to isolate and identify the specific cause of the demise of the Mayan culture. As I got to know some of these academics a little better and was able to gain their confidence, I was able to engage in more personal discussion. During the course of such conversations, experienced Mayan archeologists would allude to the possibility of ‘some kind of spiritual event’ being central to the apparent abandonment of these long establish communities. The bottom line being that there is no more, or less, evidence for this hypothesis than for theories that reflect orthodox scientific opinion. However, when I asked why the ‘spiritual event’ hypothesis is not explored further, I was left under no illusion as to the reaction of the orthodox academic community. Materialism and western religious orthodoxy would be under threat! Funding would be withdrawn and reputations destroyed (The memory of Eric Thompson is still fresh in the minds of the Mayan research community). Needless to say, I was sworn never to divulge the identities of such forward thinkers, … unless I am one day able to provide an alternative source of funding for their work!

It was not until I returned to Europe (I was on the first flight out of Belize City to Houston after 9/11), that I happened to read James Redfield’s ‘Celestine Prophecy’. I guess that we must have spoken with some of the same people! Oh, sorry. I was forgetting. ‘The Celestine Prophecy’ is a novel. Isn’t it?

Joel, I wish you every success on your journey and I share from my own experiences when I observe that our respective journeys have only just begun! There are far more people on the journey with us than we realise. At the appropriate time we will all come together, perhaps in ways that are incomprehensible to those who elect to remain locked into 3rd density. Meanwhile, the journey is of far more interest than any discussion on the ultimate destination.

Everything is in divine order.
