"Recently, spiritual leaders representing the various Maya groups and most other traditional native American tribes have been presenting their own, more optimistic version of the ancient prophecy. The book contains an interview with Terence McKenna, in which he is asked, "What are your visions of alternative scenarios that are upcoming, either in December of 2012, or before?" McKenna's reply covers 3 pages, and is thus an unusually long comment by him on 2012 scenarios. The discussion of time travel is quite interesting - McKenna considers the possibility that December 2012 will see the first working time machine - seconds after it is first used, many other machines will arrive. The grandfather paradox is also discussed.

upper boundary of the universe is literally the edge of possibility or the edge
of time. Interestingly, the top is affected by everything below. The sorts of
creative things you can do at the end of the tunnel (like ascend for example)
are very much dependent on conditions in the tube all the way back to the
beginning. The Mayans understood this. They came as spiritual emissaries to
remind us where the end of the tube was and why it was important. They
originally told us the end of time (the end of the tube) was 2012. Beyond 2012
they could not see because it simply did not exist. After 2012, time ended. This
was not because the universe ended but because the world they existed in, i.e.
the old world with the old energies, ceased to exist. They could not see past
2012 because at 2012 our creation train literally jumped the cosmic track
and moved on to an entirely different time line. This great leap of possibility
that the Mayans foretold was, in fact, the date of the original Ascension and
the grand awakening." However, Sharp goes on to say that due to
changing conditions, the whole process would now occur in 2003.
67. Lost Star of Myth And Time by Walter Cruttenden. As mentioned in 2012 News Feb 2005, the Sirius Research Group present the possibility that the precessional cycle does not actually exist as a slow rotation of the Earth's axis, but the phenomena we interpret as that movement actually represents the movement of our solar system around another centre - Sirius. There are several mentions of Walter Cruttenden on the site, and his book, Lost Star of Myth and Time seems from what I have gleaned so far, if not to agree with the Sirius Research Group, to at least consider it as one possibility: "Chapter 5 is devoted to speculation on what the sun's companion star might be, considering various objects like black holes, brown dwarfs and dead stars. It also considers the possibility that Sirius, Indra and Nibiru might be one and the same, while introducing the effect of distant influences like those emanating from the Pleiades.".
