Adrian Gilbert's End of Time 24 Sept 2006 Adrian Gilbert's new book, The End of Time - The Mayan Prophecies Revisited has just come out in the UK and will shortly be published in USA under the title of 2012: Mayan Year of Destiny. The sub-title on the UK edition is: December 21st 2012 - Is This the End of the World as We Know It?
214. The Origin of the "Hunab Ku" Symbol 24 Sept 2006
The "Hunab Ku" symbol, is widely presumed to be a Maya representation of a major Maya deity and the centre of our Milky Way galaxy. You can find a representation of it at the centre of the Dire Gnosis logo on the index page of this website. Anthropologist John Hoopes recently asked the Year 2012 discussion group if anyone could pinpoint any Maya sculpture, ceramic vessel, or other Precolumbian Maya source where it is shown. The discussion brought out some interesting facts, summarised as follows: The symbol became widely known when Jose Arguelles published The Mayan Factor in 1987, where it appears in circular form on the cover of the book, and as part of many illustrations. On p. 32, a rectangular version is labelled "Hunab Ku", and on p.52, the rectangular version is shown and labelled as "Hunab Ku: One Giver of Movement and Measure". On p. 30-32, Arguelles explains that in 1968, he visited a little town called Teotitlan del Valle near the Zapotec site of Monte Alban in the mountains of Oaxaca, in central Mexico, and he was shown two rugs with this pattern on them in a textile shop. He bought one in blue and orange. The connection between the title of Hunab Ku and the design is not explained by Arguelles, but seems to have come via the modern Maya day-keeper, Hunbatz Men. Arguelles says on p.40 that he met Hunbatz Men in 1985, and admits that he was heavily influenced by him. The following year, in 1986, Hunbatz Men published a book in Spanish called Religion Ciencia Maya, (published in 1990 in English as Secrets of Maya Science/Religion), he says that the Mexicas (Aztecs) worshipped Hunab Ku, and they (as well as the Mixtecs), also worshipped the Milky Way, as represented in the "G symbol" (p.40-41). Men calls Hunab Ku "The Only Giver of Movement and Measure", and at the bottom of p.34 he says that "in order to understand the sacred Hunab Ku...one must venerate the origin of zero, the Milky Way...". According to the official Mayanists, such as Sharer, Hunab Ku means "one god" in Yucatec Mayan language, and was the creator of the universe and equivalent to Itzamna, but "Hunab Ku seems to have figured little in the life of the ancient Maya and no representations of Hunab Ku have been identified in the codices or elsewhere." In John Major Jenkins' 1998 book, Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, he shows the rectangular symbol, (p.329) and says it originates in the Nuttall Codex (a pre-conquest Mixtec document named after Zelia Nuttall who identified and published it), but after failing to find it in the the Nuttall codex, Hoopes contacted John Major Jenkins, who said he had seen the symbol as a frontispiece House of the Dawn - in a romance novel by Ryan, published in 1914, and also in an academic work by Zelia Nuttall, but he'd rechecked and it was not in the Nuttall Codex. Next, I located the symbol in its rectangular form in a 1922 edition of Herbert J. Spinden's Ancient Civilizations of Mexico and Central America (p.220), with the caption, "Mexican blanket with the design representing sand and water". John Major Jenkins finally settled the matter, when he found the rectangular design in the Codex Magliabecchiano, published in 1903, with a commentary by Zelia Nuttall, which is an Aztec document and dates from some time before 1601. Hoopes went on to find that the codex shows variations of the rectangular design, and says they are "mantas" - mantles or ritual cloaks that were used in festivals - in particular, the festival of lip plugs. The word for lip plug was originally mistranslated as spider water, which is given in the caption. So, in summary, the "Hunab Ku" symbol was originally a rectangular symbol used by the Aztecs as a ritual cloak design, known as the Mantle of Lip Plugs (or, arguably, mantle of spider water). The symbol survives as a rug design being sold in central Mexico, but was associated with the Milky Way and the god Hunab Ku by Jose Arguelles in 1987, who changed the symbol to a circular one. This is how the symbol appeared in the 16th century Codex Magliabecchiano: Click here for the whole Year 2012 discussion....... Click on the pictures for an enlargement.

217. Review: The World Upside Down Nov 07 The World Upside Down by Kris and Jo Van Den Driesche says on the back cover that it will "fascinate and astound those who read it". .. well, it was certainly quite astounding. This is the conclusion of the review The authors present the interesting idea that the alternative precession theory combined with Dmitriev 's plasma theories could signify a changing orientation betwen heliopspheric plasma and interstellar plasma, and that this could reach a crescendo every half-precession cycle, when the magnetic fields of the planets of the solar system all reverse. BUT they have made what seems to be an almost intentional miscalculation, so as to force-fit the evidence to their preconceived half-precession cycle of 12,888 years ...and they have made an absurd 6,000-year error while copying from Michael Coe's book, Breaking the Maya Code
218. UFO landings in 2011-2012 Nov 07 According to an ex-aerospace employee, "Mr.X." documents he saw reveal a forthcoming UFO landing in 2011-2012: What were some of the most interesting things you viewed or handled? The disks mentioned above and the documents about them. They told of landing in the very near future (2011-2012) and intervening in nuclear conflicts. The documents explained that the disks were viewed either on the ship itself or in a laboratory on a device from the ship. They also contained symbols that flashed across the screen that were not understood. This was mentioned along with a plan to try to decipher the symbols. They were the same or similar symbols that were found on some of the I-beams and other pieces that were found at the crash sites according to the documents. What kind of response have you had so far from the public? This is a tough question because the answer is wide-ranging. For the most part, I have had positive reaction to my initial interviews. There are some that have misunderstood me and think that when I said that there will be many deaths in the years 2011 and 2012, that I meant at the hands of ETs. This is not what I said or what I meant. The deaths will be attributed to war, natural disasters, and panic. There will be a mass of information released that will shatter most of our core beliefs. Some will panic because their belief system will be shattered. Some will be angry because they have been lied to for so long. Some will think that the end of the world is here. Most will be confused at best about religious issues, since the truth will be told and that truth will shatter ALL religious beliefs. We will learn the true history of man through the ETs and the powers that be. It is inevitable. If the world stays on the track it is on – and I see no reason for it to change! – we will have to be shown the truth. And if those who run the world do not do it, the ETs will. 222. Contemporary Mayan Geomagnetic Prediction Apr 08
A report on the "Lord Pakal Ahau's Maya Diaries" site says that according to "Maya priest, Señor Luis Nah, a 17th Generation descendant of the last Chilam Balam (Mayan Prophet)": "The Tlauilos, a wise people from the Mexican altiplane, said we are in the Fifth Sun, but it does not mean that has happened five times only. We only have memory of what has taken place five times in history but we are not aware of previous occurrences....According to Mayan knowledge and the Sacred Round of Katuns, we are travelling in a sidereal space, in which we will arrive to a populated zone with many asteroids and celestial objects influencing our gravitational field, and considering the effect of the Moon on the oceans, these celestial bodies will move Earth’s magnetic field producing oscillations in many levels at different degrees."

223. Tortuguero Monument 6 - The Preceding Text Apr 08
In a post at the Aztlan discussion group, the epigrapher Dave Stuart supplied a translation of the piece of text just preceding the Tortuguero Prophecy. This puts the prophecy into context, so that we can see how the monument is dated and refers forward to the end of te 13th baktun (baktun 12, since the first was baktun zero ). Using the Maya Calendar date calculator, Mayacal (see Maya links page) , after doing a simple subtraction, we can ascertain the date that the monument was erected: 13. 0. 0. 0. 0 To obtain the calendar round date given bt Dave Stuart , (even though the Tzolkin glyph looks unidentifiable) we can also use the Mayacal calculator, though we get a selection of calendar round dates and it is unclear how 510 AD was selected: Calendar Round
Dave Stuart: "Here's my take on it. Remember that this stone is a small portion of
a far longer inscription, too long to translate here. The overall
text is devoted to the historical exploits of the local king named
B'ahlam Ajaw, and highlights his dedication of a shrine for a local
patron god in 669 A.D. Presumably this shrine or structure was where
the monument was found by looters in the 1960s. This closing section
begins with a mention of an earlier building or construction of a
shrine (pib'naah) -- maybe the very same one -- during Early Classic
times in 510 A.D. The final passage then links the later 669
dedication with the upcoming end of the 13th Here's an unrefined stab at a full reading and translation: uhtiiy waxak Chuwen b'olon(te') Mak ...(long ago) it happened, the day Eight Chuwen, the ninth of Mak From http://www.famsi.org/mailman/htdig/aztlan/2006-August/002533.html The above translation of the prophecy is an earlier, slight variation, in which "Pik" is used instead of Baktun"- this is the preferred term also used by anthropologist Robert Sitler - and the later suggested word, "descent" is absent. Pakal Ahau" suggests that one of the damaged untranslated glyphs is Ek, or "darkness" - citing the online glyph dictionary here: http://research.famsi.org/montgomery_dictionary/mt_entry.php?id=263&lsearch=e&search= See Pakal's page on it here: http://pakalahau.wordpress.com/2007/11/23/2012-prophecy-notes-on-tortuguero-monument-6/
224. Andrew Smith Predicts "A Big Sloshing of Water" Apr 08 Andrew Smith, who has published the first of set of 3 books called "The Revolution of 2012", has been giving lectures around Southern England. In 1992, he started channeling the Great White Brotherhood, concerning forthcoming changes in 2012. He was told by "Master KH" that the planets would be "broadly lined up in a straight line around 2012" * and that the Earth's axis tilt will "right itself" - change from its current tilt (around 23.5 degrees) to a position "much closer to the vertical" and that this will happen over 24 hours, making " the Earth a much easier place to live on, actually, after it's all settled down - there will probably be a big sloshing of water going on - just the suddenness of this, and I don't know whether its going to be asteroids splashing in, or whatever - he didn't go into the detail other than just giving some general plausibility for it. He said its actually going to happen on December 17th and 18th..." Smith says our freedom of choice will be withdrawn, so we can move to other planets if we don't want to be part of the 5th dimensional Earth. * IN FACT, The planets will be spread through 8 atrological signs in late December 2012, so they will be no more "broadly lined up in a srtraight line" unless the line is as wide as the solar system, and in that case, it would be true on any day of any year, so it seems that the Great White Brotherhood have got their facts wrong here. 225. Astrologer Helen Sewell on 2012 Apr 08 In 2012, much of the world will be focussed on the U.K., since we are hosting the Olympic games. Psychological astrologer, Helen Sewell has writtten an article for 2012:Dire Gnosis, analysing the "birth chart" for the U.K., which was "born" in 1066. She provides astrological charts to illustrate her points, and shows how the UK chart for 2012 combines with the birth chart to suggest the trajectory of mass psychology. Strange as this may seem to some people, it reveals a fascinating story that rings true on many levels. Click here to read the article: HELEN SEWELL ON ASTROLOGY OF 2012
