HOWARD BSA - in the sunshine
"HOWARD BSA" See V-TWIN NEWS PAGE 7 for more pictures. Cast iron crankcases. The motor is stock, rebuilt with new ball bearings, new 40 thou over pistons, new valves and guides. It has Pazon electronic ignition & PVL coils to replace the magneto. It always starts first kick. It has a Commando clutch & belt drive & a Lucas alternator from a Commando, a Tympanium AC converter/ voltage regulator. Gearbox is stock 1928 BSA three speed. Front brake is BSA M20. It's brass timing cover was too rough to save, I made that one from an old alloy barbecue plate. Inlet manifold is home made & the carburetor is an Amal 276."

SUNBEAM MYSTERY SOLVED
FAKE: This image is listed on this site (PAGE 3 - British V -Twins) as a Sunbeam v-twin. On the V-Twin Specials FB forum, we have discussed the image and the consensus is that it is a photoshopped image made from a Sunbeam Model 9 500 single (circa 1930). There is only a single magneto with identical leads under the inlet port, and invisible carburettors. This model was never made, unfortunately. I have reported this as a comment on the source page, here: http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/pictures/sunbeam-v-twin-1930/#comment-9877

I'm building a look-alike motor," says Claes Lindblom. However, Mats Olofsson says: "Crankcase cast in magnesium in Södertälje not far from Scania in late 40's, and I've got the original mould. The crankcase is a blend between JAP 1000 and Husqvarna 500/1000 v-twin. Only 10-15 cases made in total." See Facebook V-Twin Specials group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1334188649966492/

BROOKLANDS MATCHLESS BLACK HAWK
John Tinley's OHV V-twin 1,000cc Matchless Black Hawk is coming along. He hopes to have it on the road later this year (2020). The flywheel assembly machined from solid billet by Ewan Cameron. "Prior to WW2 Associated Motor Cycles ( AMC) made Matchless motorcycles. The made a 1,000 cc side valve motorcycle called the Model X. However, they also made an OHV 1,000 cc engine and sold it to Brough Superior and Morgan but never put the OHV engine in their own bike. So I have decided to right a wrong and put the OHV engine in their own Model X frame and use it as a 1930’s sprint bike. This engine fitted in a Brough Superior was called the SS100 and came with a certificate guaranteeing that it would reach 100 mph, which was an amazing speed before WW2. I hope that gives you the background to my bike." "I am building mine to look like a Brooklands Sprinter and my intention is to use it in some classic sprints and hill climbs."
